Baked French Onion Chicken Recipe

Who is ready to bake some chicken? I am! LOL. So yeah, I tried looking up why it’s called the baked French onion chicken recipe. Apparently it has something to do with the type of onions used, and absolutely nothing to do with French cuisine. Although in previous posts on this blog we have made the french chocolate bread recipe, french apple jam recipe and the mini frenchsilk pie recipe.

The great thing about chicken recipes, is that they are many ways to make them in your kitchen. Instead of buying low sodium beef broth, I just prefer to make my own at home. Same goes for the Mozzarella and the Parmesan cheese. For this recipe you’ll be using boneless and skinless chicken breasts. Make sure that they are the roughly the same size and not too thick. When cooked and ready to serve, you should have enough for four servings.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Prep your baking dish and preheat your oven, whilst you deal with the skillet. The onions go in first, then after a few minutes the garlic, pepper and thyme. The broth and the balsamic vinegar are added next and left to cook until you have caramelized onions. Then you can start your layers in your baking dish of onions, chicken, onions and the cheese goes on top. Pop the baking dish into your oven for about half an hour or until the chicken is done. I put all my trust in my thermometer when it comes to determining whether the chicken is cooked or not.! 🙂
