Anyone for a delicious fancy dessert? I have mentioned in quite a number of posts on this blog, how more often than not I end up not having time to make a good dinner, let alone dessert. However, when I do have time I take full advantage. I have already shared this strawberry cobbler recipe, but you also have to try these mini french silk pies.
Most of us still get excited when we run into French recipes. It is probably because the French cuisine is world renowned for having a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ I personally have not been exposed to enough of it, to comment. What I can say for sure, is that the silk pies are super delish. It may take a few tries to get them just right, but it is worth the time and effort.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Pillsbury pie crusts or homemade pie crust
- bittersweet chocolate
- ultra fine sugar
- butter softened
- vanilla extract
- large eggs
- heavy cream
- powdered sugar
- flower cookie cutter
- mini muffin pan
- blender or processor
- mixing bowl
Just like building a house, we have to start with the foundation or the base. Which in our case will be the pie crusts. You can choose to use your favorite homemade pie crust or purchase some Pillsbury pie crusts. The bottom of the crusts may puff up, just use a fork to poke and deflate.
Always allow the crusts to cool before adding the chocolate filling. I actually take advantage of this ‘wait time’ and use it to make the filling. The chocolate has to be melted but cool, the sugar finely granulated and the butter soft. For this recipe, you also have to make your own whipped cream! 🙂
