Just like most plants out there, you are going to find a wide selection of different garlic varieties you can grow in your garden. This particular one is famous for producing giant cloves which are way bigger about 4 inches in diameter. If you do not have access to a garden, you can still go ahead and grow these in a large container. Another great advantage is their long storage life.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

First of all you want to find a location in your garden that gets plenty of sunshine and also has well drained soil. It is recommended that you work in some compost into your raised garden bed before you plant your cloves. Plant your cloves facing upwards at least 3 inches deep, with in row spacing of about 4 inches and rows at least a foot apart.

It should take anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks for your cloves to germinate when planted in Spring. You can also plant some in the Fall, but ideally these should not germinate until next Spring. Water weekly and cover with mulch to reduce evaporation and restrict weeds. Your garlic is ready for harvest in about 3 months, that is when the greens will start yellowing.
