Since breakfast has been certified as most important meal of the day, I always try to make it very special. At the same time we also want it to provide enough energy for you to be able to get your day started. In earlier posts we’ve made this homemade breakfast sausage recipe, this oven roasted breakfast potatoes recipe and this inside out breakfast recipe. Let us add this homemade muesli recipe into the mix.
I think I have said this before, but I shall say it again. You can never have enough breakfast recipes, ever! (huge grin). This recipe is very versatile. For instance, for the rolled grains you can choose between barley, quinoa flakes or rye. Then there is an even wider selection when it comes to the nuts and seeds. Everything from pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, sesame seeds, almonds, walnuts, pecans, sunflower seeds and cashews. Same goes for dried fruit, you can choose from strawberries, cherries, blueberries, raisins, apples, apricots or even dried apples. Nothing is stopping you, from mixing and matching too!
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup dried fruit
- 4 cups nuts and seeds
- 2 cups rolled grains
- large bowl
- air tight container
Step By Step Instructions:
Step 1.
Measure out all the ingredients into the large bowl and mix well.
Step 2.
Transfer to the airtight container and store away in a cool dry place.
How To Serve: When breakfast or snack time comes along, you just scoop 1/2 a cup into a bowl, add some milk and enjoy your cereal. Alternatively, just like with oats you can let it sit for up to half an hour or even overnight, to allow it to soften before enjoying it. Feel free to top it up with as much fresh fruit as your heart desires. Stores well for a few weeks or even months in an air tight container.
