Sometimes, I discover these homemade recipes that make me feel real stupid. I don’t know why but for some strange reason I always thought that making butter at home was going to be some complicated process.
Today I watched this video by Robert Krampf on Youtube, and I just shock my head in disbelief. How could it be so simple to make something that looked so complicated to make as butter. Actually now I am very motivated to always make my own homemade butter, I just need a regular supply of raw whole milk for the cream.
You just let whole milk straight from the cow sit for about 3 days, and all the cream will rise to the top. I found another video that shows you an easy way to separate the cream from the milk. If you do not want to use homemade cream, you could always purchase cream from the grocery store.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Cream
- Glass Jar
- Water
- Bowl
- Salt to taste (optional)
He lets the cream sit for about 12 hours at room temperature before beginning the process. Don’t worry about it spoiling that is the whole point. The hardest part of making this butter will probably be the shaking that is required for about 3 minutes.
I read some people use food processors, but shaking it works just fine if you do not have any equipment. Oh and another thing I discovered today was, where buttermilk comes from. I think I will add a little salt to mine butter, I prefer the salted type.
