DIY Plastic Bottle Garlic Planter

Those empty plastic water bottles are about to become handy again. We have already made the diy self watering plastic bottle seed starter, the diy plastic bottle drip irrigation as well as the diy plastic bottle vertical garden. In today’s post I will be showing you how to make this diy plastic bottle garlic planter.

This will probably work better with the larger garlic varieties, as the smaller ones would probably just fall right into the bottle. This actually is a great way to reuse those plastic bottles that you would have otherwise thrown out. It really is funny how you can create your own garlic garden, that does not require any soil to thrive. Cool, huh?

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • garlic
  • empty plastic soda bottles
  • scissors or utility knife
  • water
  • iron or stove top

Step By Step Instructions:

Step 1.

Use the scissors to remove the labels from your bottles.

Step 2.

Remove the top section of the plastic bottle by cutting it just below neck level.

Step 3.

Use a heat source such as a flat iron or stove top to remold the cut edges, so they create a ledge.

Step 4.

Fill up the bottle with water and sit your garlic, roots down on top of the ledge you created above.

Step 5.

Move your bottles to a sunlit window sill, and make sure you refill with water every couple of days.

Before you know it, your garlic will start sprouting and growing right there. The roots will also start to grow longer down into the water reservoir below. Your one and only job, besides watching the garlic grow in amazement is to lift the garlic and refill the water. Harvest and enjoy your garlic when it is ready!
