I know you guys love it when I share veggies and fruits that you probably have never heard of in your life before. I personally think, that it keeps life interesting. We have so far covered everything from how to grow starfruit to how to grow custard apples and even how to grow feijoas. Would you also like to know how to grow blood limes?
This member of the citrus fruit family originates from Australia. It is actually a hybrid between their acid mandarin and their native finger lime. you will be glad to know that you can grow this in any location which has a warm temperate to subtropical climate. Since the tree itself does not grow too tall, you could probably grow it indoors in containers in areas that have cooler temperatures.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- blood lime seeds or seedlings
- compost
- manure
- mulch
- organic fertilizer
- container (optional)
Ideally they should be grown in well drained soil, that has had some compost and manure worked into it. The soil should have a slightly acidic pH. You want to find an area that gets sunlight in the morning, but the tree also thrives in full sunlight too.
As far as maintenance is concerned, make sure that you water your tree regularly and also apply organic fertilizer every 3 months or so. In order to increase fruit production, make sure that you prune your trees when necessary. Harvesting can be prickly, therefore gloves are recommended.
