Winter is fast heading our way, and so it is time to make sure we have all our warm bedding sorted out. Earlier on this year I published a post showing you how to make a diy fitted sheet from a flat and that ended up being a popular post. In a follow up to that one, we will be looking at how to make a diy duvet cover using flat sheets also.
This is the perfect intermediate sewing project for you to undertake. You have the option of going out and buying a new set of sheets or you could just re-purpose some of your old sheets. As for the size of the sheets you can use any size you have available. A sewing machine would probably save you a a lot of time, however if you don’t have access to one then a needle and thread will have to do.
Here’s What You’ll Need
- flat sheets
- coordinating thread
- sewing machine
- duvet
- snaps
- thin ribbons or thick string
- thread
- scissors
The trickiest part of this whole project is finding enough space for you to work on. You will need to lay the sheets down flat. It is important that you make sure your sheets are face side up, before laying your duvet on top of it. You may have to trim the sheets, but leave enough to allow you to sew the edges. The snaps are then added last to complete the duvet.
