How To Freeze Heavy Cream

When it’s summer time, we tend to love frozen stuff. It makes a lot of sense due to the extreme heat, we are always trying to keep cool. I have shown you how to freeze milk, how to freeze pineapple and how to freeze guacamole in previous posts. How about today I show you how to freeze heavy cream, or as some would like to call them ‘homemade cream cubes’.

When it comes to freezing dairy products, it is just as easy as freezing most other things. There is no special equipment that is required, a simple ice cube tray will do. However, I do recommend that you use silicone ice cube trays, it just makes the whole process easier. Also don’t forget to label as well as date your freezer bags, you don’t want to end up using cream that has been stored in your freezer for way too long.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1.

Lay the ice cube tray down flat on your kitchen table or counter and pour the cream in.

Step 2.

Carefully transfer the tray to the freezer, make sure it sits flat before leaving the cream to freeze for a few hours.

Step 3.

When frozen pop the cream cubes out of the tray, into a ziploc bag.

Step 4.

Use your marker to label as well as date your bag, and then return the bag to the freezer.

When it is time to use the cream you can then remove as many cubes as you need. As a general guide it is recommended that for every 1/4 cup, you use 2 cubes. This means that for half a cup of cream, you need 4 cubes and for a cup of heavy cream double that which in turn is 8 cubes. Of course it will depend on the size of the tray that you use, I know nowadays they have those trays that make huuuuge ice cubes. LOL
