How To Freeze Green Onions In Plastic Bottles

Of all the different preservation methods available, I tend to find that freezing stuff is often the easiest option. However, it also seems to always take up the most space. I have already shown you how to freeze milk, how to freeze pineapple and how to freeze guacamole. Hence, I think you are ready to discover how to freeze green onions in plastic bottles.

This is also a great way to repurpose those empty plastic bottles, you would have otherwise sent for recycling. I prefer to use the bottles and not the freezer bags, because they tend to minimize the onion ‘smells’ better. Besides that it’s also easier to just shake the onions out of the bottle when cooking, the same way you would with your salt shaker. If you have access to the smaller plastic bottles, they would be perfect for this too.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

The plastic bottles you’ll be using, should have all labels removed and should also be washed thoroughly. Leave them out to dry, before adding any onions to them. What I usually do is, chop my onions whilst I wait for them to completely dry. Stuff your bottles with onions and then pop them into the freezer. If you find that they clump and stick together, you can try flash freezing them on a cookie sheet first, before stuffing them into the bottles. They should store frozen in your freezer for about 30 days or so.
