How To Dehydrate Spinach

When they talk about popular vegetables, growing spinach should be on the list. In previous posts I have shared how to dehydrate other popular vegetables such as celery and cucumbers. So I thought hey, why not look at how to dehydrate spinach in today’s post?

If you have dehydrated other fresh vegetables, you should no problem doing the same with this one. It will allow you to store more spinach for the months when it is not available fresh. Dehydration saves more space when compared to other preservation methods. If you like you can blanch the leaves for a few minutes, but it is not really necessary. I never bother with that. LOL

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Give the spinach a good wash before arranging the leaves in single layers on the dehydrator trays. Also make sure that you remove any wilted leaves and that you dry the spinach as much as possible after washing them to reduce the drying time. You can use a clean kitchen towel to dry the leaves, I like to pat down the leaves with some paper towel.

Set the low temperature setting and let the dehydrator do its thing for at least 4 hours. I find that it usually takes another hour or so to dry the leaves. When dry you can opt to store the leaves whole in ziploc bags or you can crush them and store as flakes in mason jars. Why not just do both, it gives you more options when you are cooking in your kitchen.
