How To Dehydrate Ginger

There are a few ‘roots’ that one should almost always have handy, this is one of them. I have already shared how to grow ginger at home and how to make your own homemade ginger ale in earlier posts. In today’s blog post, we shall be taking a look at how to dehydrate fresh ginger.

As with most dehydrating recipes, you are going to need some sort of food dehydrator. Since ginger dries pretty quick, you could even make use of your diy solar food dehydrator for this. It will take a little longer, but at least you get to use a renewable energy source. When your ginger is dry, you have the option of saving it as is in an air tight container or grinding it further into a powder. It probably just depends on what you want to use it for, right?

Here’s What You’ll Need:

In order to start dehydrating your ginger, you must first peel it to remove the outer skin. This can easy be done by scraping the root with a silver spoon, however you want to be fancy you can use a peeler. The next step is to either grate or slice your ginger, before laying it out in the dehydrator. The actual dehydration process should take less than 6 hours.
