Let’s get baking today, shall we? Well it has been a while since the last time we got baking on this blog. I think the last time was when we made this cheddar cheese crackers recipe or was it this chocolate chip cookie cake recipe or maybe this vanilla custard cookie cups recipe. Oops, it seems I have completely forgotten what it was. Moving on, let us go right ahead and try this homemade puff pastry recipe, today.
I had tried a few homemade pastry recipes in my lifetime, before I settled on this one. It’s an easy recipe, that only requires three ingredients if you are using salted butter. Also make sure that your water and butter are very cold. What I actually do is put those two ingredients in the freezer about 30 minutes before I get started on the pastry. If you make a little more than you need, you can always freeze the pastry for up to 30 days.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- salted butter
- cold water
- all-purpose flour
- salt (optional)
- egg
- food processor
- rolling pin
- plastic wrap
You’ll need the food processor to mix all the ingredients and prepare the dough. The recipe instructions will guide you on how much of each ingredient to add to the bowl and how many pulses to perform at each stage. Before rolling out the dough, you should knead it lightly a few times. There is a special way to fold the dough before wrapping it in plastic wrap. Ideally you want the pastry to chill in the fridge for at least an hour before using it.
