I probably have already mentioned this before, but what the heck I will say it again anyway. I looooove me some blueberries. LOL! So far on this blog I have shared how to grow blueberries, how to freeze blueberries, how to make blueberry jam and even how to dehydrate blueberries. In today’s post we shall be looking at how to make some homemade blueberry ice cream.
There are homemade ice cream recipes that do not require an ice cream maker, and others that do. Unfortunately or fortunately this is one of the latter. If you do not have fresh blueberries available, frozen will just have to do. Besides the blueberries, there are 6 other simple ingredients needed for this recipe. I personally find that making the ice cream the night before and letting it set overnight works best. Tastes way better, for me at least.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 1 cup whole milk
- 4 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup half and half
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- pinch of salt
- 2 cups whipping cream
- blender
- sauce pan
- freezer safe container
- ice cream maker
Step By Step Instructions:
Step 1.
Use the blender to turn your blueberries into a puree.
Step 2.
Heat the sugar and the puree in the sauce pan until the sugar dissolves, then remove from the heat and let it sit in your fridge for about 30 minutes to an hour to cool down.
Step 3.
When cool, remove the saucepan from the fridge and add in the rest of the ingredients. Mix everything well together.
Step 4.
Transfer to the ice cream maker and allow it to process your ice cream so it is ready for the freezer.
Step 5.
Place the ice cream in your freezer for at least 4 hours to allow it to set.
That’s all folks. In just a few hours your fresh homemade ice cream will be ready for serving. If you do not have an ice cream maker, there are a few other recipes you can try below that do not require one.
