Homemade Ice Cream In A Jar

Say what? Everyday I am amazed by how useful those simple things we call mason jars can be. Having already shared the homemade ice cream in 5 minutes recipe, I never thought I would find an easier recipe. Boy was I proven wrong, yet again. Who knew that you could make homemade ice cream in a mason jar?

Seriously with just 3 ingredients and 5 minutes of your precious time, you can make yourself a jar of ice cream. Even better, you do not require any special equipment , just the mason jar I have already mentioned. There are no preservatives going into your homemade dessert, you know exactly what you put in it. Oh did I mention, it is super easy to whip up too?

Homemade Ice Cream In A Jar Recipe

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • wet paper towel or napkin
  • mason jar

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1.

Pour the whipped cream into the jar
until it is about half full.

Step 2.

Add you vanilla & sugar.

Step 3.

Screw the lid on and give the jar
a good shake for about 5 minutes.

Step. 4

Wrap a wet napkin or paper towel
around your mason jar.

Step 5.

Place the jar in your freezer to
allow your ice cream to set.

It is best to leave the jar in the freezer overnight, although sometimes the ice cream can be enjoyed after about 3 hours in there. Wraping the jar in the wet paper towel or napkin, helps speed up the setting or freezing time. Instead of using vanilla, you can use your favorite extract or cocoa powder. Sugar can be replaced with a sweetner too.  Enjoy! 🙂
