How To Make Banana Jam

No need to go bananas or start monkey-ing around. There will be enough for everyone after you are done. LOL. After all you already know how to grow bananas and even how to make this banana bread in a jar recipe. In today’s post I will be sharing my favorite homemade banana jam recipe.

There are quite a few banana jam recipes, that you can choose from. Some will require that you add pectin, others will not. This recipe only requires 3 ingredients, this is including the bananas. We won’t be canning the jam and it also does not require pectin. The combination of the ingredients should allow the jam to set naturally, if all goes according to plan.

How To Make Banana Jam

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 12 small bananas
  • 4 1/2 cups sugar
  • juice of 3 limes
  • large bowl
  • cutting board
  • knife
  • wooden spoon
  • large saucepan
  • canning jars
  • dark rum (optional)

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1.

Peel your bananas and slice them
into the bowl.

Step 2.

Add the sugar and followed by the lime juice.

Step 3.

Mix everything well with your wooden spoon.

Step 4.

Transfer into the large saucepan and
bring to a rolling boil on slow heat
for about 30 minutes.

Step 5.

Test the jam to see if it sets.

Step 6.

Fill up your jars with the jam
and carefully screw on the lids.

You can store the jam in your fridge or in a cool dry place. If you are making the ‘Caribbean version’ of the jam, then you can add a few drops of rum into the lid just before sealing the jars. You now have another great way to preserve your bananas, this jam is quite delisssh! 🙂
