Homemade Dijon Mustard Recipe

Sometimes you start to notice that one ingredient starts to pop up in a lot of your recipes. That would be the right time to start making your own right there in your kitchen. First it was the Sautéed Tilapia With Garlic Herb Butter Sauce, then the Creamy Swedish Meatballs Recipe and the Homemade Chicken Marinade Recipe. As a result I have decided to start making my own homemade dijon mustard.

The preparation for this recipe is pretty simple, it just that you will need about 8 hours to let the ingredients infuse. Speaking of the ingredients, they are basic ingredients that should not be difficult to find. Naturally since you will be making mustard, you are going to need some mustard seeds. If you are going to be making regular batches, then it maybe a wise idea to buy some of the spices in bulk or grow your own.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • brown mustard seeds
  • yellow mustard seeds
  • white wine vinegar
  • dry white wine
  • shallot
  • salt
  • white pepper
  • all spice
  • blender or food processor
  • medium bowl
  • small jar
  • plastic wrap

It will probably be way easier if you mix the dry ingredients first in a bowl. That way you can add the other ingredients one by one, until everything has gone into the bowl. The minced shallots are next, followed by the white vinegar and then the white wine. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit in the fridge for 8 hours or overnight. In the morning, give it a run in the food processor or blender. Store in your fridge and use within a month. 🙂
