Creamy Swedish Meatballs Recipe

Forget the boring ole’ American version, we are going Swedish today! LOL. Having shared with you guys the best hamburger seasoning recipe and the best baked beans recipe. I think it is only right that I share with you the best Swedish meatballs recipe, too!

Ready in just 30 minutes, you should probably save this one in your quick dinner meals rolodex. What makes it the best version? Well, you still get the rich and creamy sauce. However, there is a ‘secret ingredient’ that you’ve probably never thought of adding to the sauce. Don’t stress, this is an ingredient that you already have in your pantry.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Sit your bowl on the kitchen counter and add the egg, salt, nutmeg, ground beef, parsley, onion, panko, garlic powder and pepper. Mix all these ingredients well and then start rolling into meatballs. You can get about 20 small ones and around 12 large ones. Heat your oil in the skillet and add the butter too.

It’s time to cook each meatball until it browns on each side. Cover in foil on a plate while you make the sauce. Start with the butter and flour, give it a good whisk and it should start turning brown. At which point you can start to add the cream and the broth, but very slowly.

Now for the ‘secret ingredient’, add your Worcestershire sauce and the djion mustard. Allow to simmer, as the sauce thickens. Season with the salt and pepper. When the sauce is ready, dump your meatballs back into the skillet. Let everything simmer for another 2 minutes or so. This recipe serves 6, over rice, mashed potatoes or egg noodles. Mmmmmm, you’ll love it! 🙂
