Ever since the beginning of time, people have been ‘breaking bread usually in the morning for breakfast. I have already shared how to make sandwich bread , how to make french bread and how to make naan bread on this blog. However, I know you would love to have even more choices, right? So how about this homemade Italian ciabatta bread recipe?
There is just something about Italian recipes, that makes them sound so sophisticated. This bread originated in Northern Italy, and has since filtered down for all of to enjoy. I like that there is no kneading required when making it or even expensive bread machines. However, you still need a little patience to allow the dough to rise. Total cooking time needed is roughly about 2 hours.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- water (divided) (tepid)
- honey
- active dry yeast
- all purpose flour
- salt
- small bowl
- large bowl
- wooden spoon
- tea towel
- cookie sheet
- parchment paper
- spatula
- ice cubes
In order to activate the yeast, you’ll need to mix it with some water and the honey in the small bowl. Allow at least 5 minutes for the yeast mixture to be ready, before adding it to the flour in a larger bowl. Use the wooden spoon to mix everything well before adding salt and then covering with a large tea towel. A full hour and a half is required for the dough to rise. Only then can you prepare it for baking for at least 20 minutes as instructed in the recipe.
