When it comes to bread, there are a thousand different options. Okay maybe a thousand is a little bit of an exaggeration, but you get the picture. LOL. I don’t know if you have seen the posts on how to make homemade ciabatta bread, homemade sandwich bread and homemade naan bread? Well, how about you try this homemade flatbread recipe?
I strongly believe that after you try this one, you won’t look at any other homemade flatbread recipes the same. You probably can head into your pantry right now and pull out all 12 require ingredients. It’s not really a big deal if you are missing one or two of the dried herbs. This recipe makes ten, but you can easily double or triple the quantities for a bigger batch.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- lukewarm water
- active dry yeast
- sugar
- plain yogurt
- olive oil
- salt
- dried basil
- dried oregano
- garlic powder
- all-purpose flour
- fresh parsley
- olive oil
- large mixing bowl
- whisk
- wooden spoon
- kitchen towel
- large skillet
Get started by activating the yeast in a large bowl for about 10 minutes or so. After which you can start whisking in the rest of the ingredients. When everything is mixed, you can then move the dough to the floured kitchen counter for kneading. The dough is then divided into equal pieces, covered and left to sit again for a few minutes.
We are now ready for the frying part, which will be done over medium low heat. Flatten each dough ball immediately before frying. When I see bubbles, which is usually starts after a minute wait for 30 seconds before flipping the dough. Don’t forget to oil each side before frying. What I really love about these is that you can store them frozen for up to 3 months, so they are always readily available when needed.
