DIY Homemade Jewelry Cleaner

Shine bright like a diamond, so they say! No one wants to wear dull and dirty jewelry that does not shine. It defeats the whole purpose, right? In previous posts I have shared how to make this diy homemade floor cleaner, this diy homemade eyeglass cleaner and also this diy homemade grease cleaner spray. Today we will be adding on to that list with this diy natural homemade jewelry cleaner.

If like me, you prefer to go the diy homemade cleaners route, try to make sure that you always stick to the all natural versions. Having said that, this particular one requires four ingredients only, which are readily available in any kitchen or pantry. I always keep tin foil that I can reuse, and this is one of those times where it becomes handy. The method itself is super easy, since all the ingredients are mixed together in the bowl. In most instances, you should have clean(er) jewelry within 20 minutes.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 1 cup hot/warm water
  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp liquid dish soap
  • aluminium foil
  • microwave safe bowls
  • toothbrush
  • paper towels
  • small plastic tray (optional)

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1.

Fold the foil into half and then into half again.

Step 2.

Place the foil on the bottom of the bowl, overlapping a little onto the sides.

Step 3.

Add the warm water, baking soda, salt and dish soap to the bowl. Mix well.

Step 4.

Drop your jewelry into the bowl and allow to sit for 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 5.

Remove from the bowl and gently scrub with a toothbrush.(Optional)

Step 6.

Rinse in a seperate bowl with cold water.

Step 7.

Extract your jewelry and lay it out on paper towels or a plastic tray. Leave to dry.

There you go, here’s an easy way to clean your jewelry. If it is already clean after the first soaking, you may skip the ‘brushing’ step. In the event that your jewelry is still dirty, even after brushing you may want to repeat the whole process. However, generally this method should work most of the time on the first try.
