When it comes to cleaning stuff around the homestead, the hard part is usually figuring out the best way to deal with the different areas or things. In previous posts we have looked at how to clean burnt food off your pots, how to clean old cookie sheets and we have even made this homemade grease cleaner spray. In today’s post I will be showing how to clean your oven racks, the easy way.
These diy household cleaning tips, have always been super helpful over the years. This particular method requires two ingredients only, which are readily available in most kitchens. No harsh chemicals or special equipment is needed. You may need a little elbow grease, to remove the stuck on and burnt on dirt. However, it should only take about 30 minutes to properly clean your racks, but then again that depends on how dirty your oven racks were initially. *grin*

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- dirty oven racks
- vinegar
- baking soda
- bath tub
- kitchen scour pads
- hot water
- spray bottle
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1.
Lay down your oven racks flat in the bath tub.
Step 2.
Use a spray bottle to evenly cover your racks with vinegar.
Step 3.
Sprinke baking soda over the vinegar, making sure that you fully coat your racks.
Step 4.
After about 10 minutes, you can add enough hot water to cover the racks in the tub.
Step 5.
Leave the racks to sit in the hot water for another 10 minutes, after which you can use your scour pad to scrub off any remaining dirt that may still be stuck onto the racks.
Step 6.
Rinse the oven racks with warm water and let them dry before fitting them back into the oven.
That’s all there is to it. Feel free to repeat steps 1 to 5, until you are satisfied with the results. I regularly clean my racks, hence I only have to do this once every couple of months.
