Argh! Don’t you just hate it when you are trying to open a jar, and you can’t get the flipping lid to turn. Sometimes, I used to get so frustrated that I would want to smash the jar to the ground. But not any more! I discovered this diy fabric jar opener that is perfect for opening all those canning and pickling jars stored in my pantry.
If you love the easy sewing projects, then you are going to love this one for sure. Although, you can use your sewing machine to speed things up, if you have the time you could also just use a sewing needle and some thread. You may be tempted to leave out the magnets, especially if you do not have any available but they make the process of opening the jars a lot easier. Trust me.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- rubber shelf liner
- fabric
- small magnets
- sewing machine
- thread
- scissors
- rotary cutter
- cutting mat
The first thing you want to do is measure out your rubber shelf and then you can move on to cutting it. Now that you have the rubber shelf, you can sandwich it in between two pieces of fabric and then sew around the edges to secure everything together. A little flip of the fabric, is all that is left before you add the magnet and finish with a top switch around the edges. Voila your jar opener is finished.
