Yes! I have done it again. I have found one project that you probably have never thought of or ever dreamn’t possible. Remember when I showed you how to make diy plastic bag basketsor that other time I showed you how to make aprons from old shirts? Well, today we will be taking a look at how to make this diy apron from recycled crisp packets. Recycled what? You read right, potato chips packets.
Ok, so bring out the sewing machine and your apron sewing patterns. You are going to need them for this project. I really love that, we will be recycling potato chip packets that would otherwise have been thrown away. You are probably going to need help when it comes to collecting the packets because, depending on the size you will need anyway from 30 to 50 packets.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- old crisp packets
- fabric
- bias binding
- fabric tape
- sellotape
- sewing machine
- needle and thread
You were probably thinking that this apron has no fabric at all, you are so wrong. You will need to cut out the fabric, maybe use a template or pattern for that. Once you have your fabric cut out, then the fun part begins. Basically you just lay down your crisps packets on top of it making sure they overlap by about half an inch.
Then you grab your phone and take a picture that you will use as a visual aide. The tape will help keep the bags in place as you stitch them onto the fabric, starting from the bottom. You want to use long stitches to avoid ripping the plastic. When all packs are stitched on, all that’s left is trimming, nipping and tucking and making sure that everything looks neat.
