You could try, but no one could ever convince me that I have enough baskets. I use them to store various things around the homestead. Remember the diy rope basket project, I shared with you a few months back? If you do, you are most likely going to love this diy plastic bag basket too.
Although they are many different diy basket projects, I tend to prefer the easier ones. Oh, and let us not forget, the cheap and affordable ones too. This is one of those simple projects, which reuses plastic bags to make the baskets. You can use any plastic bags you can find, although the grocery bags are much easier to work with. They don’t even have to all be one color, unless of course you want to make a white bag.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- heavy duty sewing needles
- white polyester thread
- thimble
- plastic bags
- scissors
- pins
The first step is cutting your bag into wide strips. Once you have your strips, you can then move on to braiding your plastic bag strips. You will need at least 20 to 30 feet of braided plastic bag, before you can start making your basket. For the base, you just need to coil your rope and then secure it by sewing. With your base secured, you can move on to building up the sides of your basket.
