DIY Bowl Pot Holder

Remember, the old saying… “if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen”. It is not only the stove that you should be worried about, there is the microwave too. We knitted the diy irish tea cosy for the teapots, for the bowls we shall be sewing these diy bowl pot holders. They are perfect for protecting you from hot bowls, coming out of your microwave.

You are going to need some basic sewing skills, for this project. If you do not have access to a sewing machine, you can probably sew everything manually, however it will take longer to complete the project. Not only are these handy, you can easily wash them too. These would make great gifts for family and friends, so why not make a couple and share with your loved ones, huh?

Here’s What You’ll Need:

It is recommended that you start by using the poster board to create a template. This will make it easier for you to make more of these, by simply reusing the template. It is also important that each template is a perfect square. Before cutting out the fabric squares, you have to mark and punch out holes as directed on the template itself.

The cut out squares, will have to be quilted together. There are a few different ways to do this, just choose what works for you. Then you move on to pressing and trimming the darts, followed by joining the pieces together. The last step involves, pressing and stitching the bowl holder. It is quite a few steps, but the end product is definitely worth all the effort! 🙂
