Cajun Blackened Catfish Recipe

Whenever you see the word ‘cajun’ you know that you are being taken to the south. Most of the time that means that the food is going to be delish. Just like recipes such as the instant pot bbq ribs recipe and the one pot mexican spaghetti recipe, you are going to enjoy your meal. Today I want to share my trusted cajun blackened catfish recipe with you.

If you have never tried any other cajun recipes, this might be a good one to start with. I like that it is not too complicated or intense. In fact all of the ingredients, except maybe the seasoning should already be in your garden and kitchen. Also I am sure if you do not have any catfish fillets, you could replace them with your favorite fish instead. I haven’t tried it yet though.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

This recipe is broken down into two stages. First you have to make the cajun rice, which will take about 45 minutes to cook. Whilst waiting for the rice to cook, you can use that time to season the catfish with the blackening seasoning. When the catfish is fully coated on both sides, you can go ahead and cook the fish.

Take each coated fillet and sear about 4 minutes per side in the pan with heated olive oil. When fish is ready you can cover in a plate with aluminium foil and then start preparing the vegetables and the sauce. By the time the rice is ready, you can drain the rice and serve with the catfish and veggies. The cajun seasoning is what really transforms this recipe.
