Although they require a little more extra work staking them, we still love to grow tomatoes in our gardens. We have several options available to us when it comes to supporting them like the diy pvc tomato cages and the diy wooden tomato cages. In today’s post however, we will be exploring how to stake roma tomato plants.
Of all the tomato varieties, this is one of the most popular ones. Most people tend to have these in their garden and even in their kitchens. Staking them is important, especially when the plants are younger in order to provide them protection from harsh weather conditions. Essentially by staking them, you are providing them the support they need to prevent them from snapping should high winds decide to show up.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
The whole procedure must be carried out with surgeon precision especially if you are dealing with the younger plants. You want to stick the bamboo stake as close as possible to the plant, deep enough to provide adequate support without damaging the roots. Then you can use tie the stem to the stake, just make sure you do it above a leave branch or you risk having it slip down the stem.
