This is one herb that I use at least once every week in my kitchen. I seriously though that all this time I had dedicated a post to growing it. However, it seems like I have covered how to grow other herbs such as thyme, oregano and basil. Somehow, I skipped how to grow rosemary, hmmmm.
It turns out that Rosemary, is probably one of the easiest herbs to grow by propagation. Many times I have forgotten to water my herbs, while some may start to wilt, it will still be growing strong. Like asparagus, it is a perennial which means you plant it once and you can keep enjoying the fruits of your labor for many years to come. Except if you live in the really cold climates, the harsh winter can kill your plants.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- rosemary cutting or seeds
- small plastic bottle
- scissors
- water
- container
- potting mix
- rooting hormone (optional)
You can use any plastic container, but instead of buying some its cheaper to just reuse some small plastic bottles. Cut them in half with your scissors and fill them water. Strip any leaves away from the bottom of the cutting and make a 45 degree angle cut on the end with your scissors. Take the scissors and remove the bark on one side immediately above the cut you just make. Place your prepped cutting in the container.
Its time to call upon my magic homemade rooting hormone, but you can use any other type or even just leave out the hormone. Leave the containers on a windowsill, where they have access to daily sunlight. Rooting will take about 7 days or more. Should algae begin to grow in your container, simply replace the water. Once you have some long roots, it is time to transplant into a container or your garden.
