Let’s go bananas, in today’s post. LOL Sorry I couldn’t help making a banana joke. If you do not already know how to, then you are going to have to read this post on how to grow bananas. For those of us who have more bananas, than they know what to do with, today I will share how to freeze bananas.
In my recipe collection, there are quite a few banana recipes. When you freeze bananas, the best way to use them is either in smoothies or when baking. Before freezing them, you have to make sure that they are either ripe or over ripe. After you freeze them, there will not ripen any further. Ever since I discovered that you could freeze them, I throw away fewer bananas than before.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- fresh bananas
- baking sheet
- parchment paper
- cutting board
- sharp knife
- plastic wrap
- marker
- ziploc bags
- containers
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1.
Peel your bananas.
Step 2.
Cut them into slices about 1/4″ thick.
Step 3.
Lay down the slices in a single layer
on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Step 4.
Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap.
Step 5.
Place the tray in your freezer and
leave to freeze for at least 2 hours.
Once the bananas are hard and frozen you can peel them off the parchment paper. You can store them in ziploc bags or freezer containers. Do not forget to label and mark each batch with the date. Frozen bananas can be stored for up to 6 months in your freezer. Don’t throw away the peels, use them to make your homemade banana peel organic fertilizer.
