Homemade Corned Beef Recipe

Every now and again, I like to share the classics with you on this blog. I don’t know if you remember when we looked at how to make homemade bacon, or homemade ketchup or the time when I showed you how to smoke salmon. Growing up my grandma, use to make us homemade corned beef, that was absolutely to die for.

Obviously you will find a lot variations of this homemade recipe, if you do a quick Google search. Mostly it will be the ingredients for the brine. I like that you get to choose whether you use the tongue or the brisket. Since the tongue is not usually favored to be served with your main meals, I tend to like to use it instead for the corned beef. The only thing I don’t like is having to wait almost a week to enjoy my corned beef. It really sucks! LOL

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Ok, so first we have to make the brine first for your corned beef. This is made by mixing the beer, water, spices, salt and coconut sugar in the soup pot. After bringing it to a boil and allowing it to simmer, the coconut sugar and the sea salt will dissolve and you then have to let it cool down before transferring it to another container.

Ideally you want your meat to stay in the brine for at least 5 days. Don’t forget to turn the meat every two days. When ready, you can get rid of the brine. Then it is time for the slow cooker to take over. It is going to be a long wait at least 8 hours before the meat is ready. The meat should be easy to piece with a fork and super delicious! 🙂
