If you haven’t already noticed, then you need to read more posts on this blog. LOL. On a serious note though, we have been turning to more natural and homemade vs manufactured products. From the homemade sunscreen lotion, to the homemade toothpaste and even the homemade hand sanitizer gel. Just today, I realized I still hadn’t shared with you my favorite homemade natural mouthwash recipe.

Not only is it all natural, you only need 3 ingredients to make this. The recipe itself is super easy whilst the end product is just what the doctor ordered for your teeth and gums. This cheap alternative will help you improve your oral health, freshen your breath and prevent cavities. For example, the coconut oil has antibacterial, antiviral as well as antimicrobial properties.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• 1 teaspoon coconut oil
• 2 drops peppermint essential oil
• 1/2 cup water
• salt (just a pinch)
• small mason jar or container
• baking soda (optional)

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1.

Measure out all your ingredients and pour them into the mason jar.

Step 2.

Screw on the lid, and give the jar a real good shake.

Step 3.

Use or store away in cool dry place.

How To Use: Take 1 or 2 teaspoons of your homemade mouthwash and swish around in your mouth for about 60 seconds. Don’t forget to rinse well with water after spitting out the mouthwash.

If you prefer, you can add another essential oil of your choice to the recipe. Tea tree oil and spearmint essential oils are great choices to consider. I often add spearmint but haven’t tried tea tree oil yet. I am also still to try adding baking soda, but they are others who swear by it.
