If you love gardening but hate bending down to tend to your garden, then stick around to the end of this post. I have already shared several ideas on this blog such as this diy plastic bucket raised garden bed, this diy corrugated metal raised garden bed and this diy wood pallet raised garden bed. Just the other day I ran into this diy tiered raised garden bed, that you may also consider.
Besides getting down and dirty in my garden, I also enjoy constructing various diy gardening projects. This tiered raised garden bed is also perfect for situations where gardening space may be limited. I love that they have attached a trellis on the top tier, and that allows you to grow cucumbers and tomatoes which have vines that require support. On the bottom tier you can plant your herbs such as cilantro, parsley and basil.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- lumber
- wide corner braces
- corner plates
- outdoor pocket hole screws
- outdoor finish (optional)
- landscape fabric
- miter saw
- kreg jig
- power drill
- random orbital sander
- staple gun
- lattice trellis
As with most woodworking projects, bring out your tape measure and make the required measurements as well as cuts. All the boards should be sanded down, before you begin the process of building the leg frames. With legs in place you can then move on to assembling the frame followed by the cedar planks. The last step before you apply the finishing oil involves attaching the lattice trellis. I think I will leave out the landscape fabric around the sides, but who knows I may change my mind.
