Ok, I really did not like the sound of the other name, so naturally I changed it. Hey, it is my blog after all, I can do as I please. LOL. So in previous posts we have covered how to make the diy u shaped raised bed garden and the diy brick raised garden beds. Next on the list is this diy plastic bucket raised garden bed.
You all know how I love my diy plastic bucket projects, since I have featured quite a number on here. Instead of filling up the bed with soil, we fill up the buckets and then place them inside the structure. You can pretty much grow all your favorite garden plants, from tomatoes, peas and even cucumbers. There will be a few adjustments though when it comes to the trellises and supports.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 5 gallon plastic buckets
- 2×4 lumber
- wood screws
- tape measure
- miter saw
- handheld drill
- potting soil
- wood stain (optional)
Figure out the height you want for your bed, and use that to guide you for the length of your legs. As for the width, it all depends on how many rows you want, and same applies for the length. I would begin, by building the inner top T-frame and then attach each corner to the legs.
You can then screw on the leg support, which in turn will hold the support for the buckets. Don’t forget to drill drainage holes, at the bottom of your buckets before filling them up with soil and planting your seedling. For durability, I would apply a layer or two of wood stain.
