DIY T-Shirt Tote Bags

It’s time for yet another fun re-purposing project. I am one person who is always trying to figure out ways of reusing almost everything. Past projects I have shared on this blog include more recently the diy plastic bottle food canisters and way before that this diy old futon hay feeder. Today’s blog is dedicated to diy t-shirt tote bags.

I have been using these for years now, they are very durable and easy to make. Not to mention cheap too, since they are made from re-purposed tshirts. Now you never have to throw away another t-shirt, just think… tote bag. LOL. These bags are also reusable, and perfect for carrying just about anything you can fit into them. It takes just 10 minutes or less to make your very own tote bag.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • old t-shirts
  • scissors
  • large bowl (optional)
  • marker (optional)

The first step involves cutting out and removing the sleeves. Use the bowl to mark out a nice round shape that you can use as a guideline to cut out the neck of the t-shirt. Now we move on to the bottom of the shirt were you can go wild with the scissors and cut out one inch thick slits.

The length of your slits will depend on the t-shirt you are using as well as personal preference. Tying the front and back slits together is what makes the whole bag come together. Additionally, if you have some extra time you can go wild and decorate your tote. I hardly ever do that, I leave the design as the decoration.
