The hubby asked me the other day, if I ever get tired of building cooking apparatuses, after I should him this diy plow disc cooker. So far we already have the diy old satellite dish solar cooker, the diy outdoor mud stove and the diy homemade bbq barrel. There is a few more lying around the homestead, but that won’t stop me from trying any new ones.
This type of cooker, is a not a complicated project at all. Plus the plow discs themselves can often be found for free, from farms and farm equipment workshops. I really do not see myself going to purchase a disc, to use for this project. Besides the heat you are going to need some kind of heat source to provide the heat needed by your cooker.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- plow disc
- handheld drill
- handles
- pencil
- bolts and nuts
- shallow divot
- hammer and punch
- vice grips
With the disc secured in the vice grips, you can drill the holes required to attach the handles to the disc. Use a pencil to mark your holes and the handheld drill for drilling. Before using the cooker, you may want to treat and season the cooking surface. For the heat source you can use everything from a pit fire, turkey fryer and even a simple charcoal grill.
