DIY Suncatchers

Although this is a fun activity for the summer months when the sun is shinning, you could also take it on during the long boring winter months. Just like the diy t-shirt shoelaces and the diy towel teddy bear, making these diy suncatchers is great for family fun time.

When you see these things, they seem complicated and fancy but they are not at all. What I can promise you though, is that you will enjoy making these. The materials list is not long either nor is it anything you cannot easily get. Besides, just improvise and use whatever you have available for example instead of embroidery string, use any string or twine you have available.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

The directions ask you to search for circle coloring pages on the internet and then print them. In case you do not have access to a printer, you could probably just order some online or create your own. Without these patterns, it is a little harder for the kids to color in different shapes, although it can still be done.

The rest of the steps are straight forward. The first being that you need to apply the vegetable oil, in order to make the paper more transparent. After drying them, you can then move on to applying the tacky glue inside the mason jar ring and carefully pressing in the ‘treated’ colored pages. This can become a little messy, there encourage the kids to work on paper plates.
