DIY PVC Goat Mineral Feeders

Truth be told, before I started taking care of and raising livestock on our homestead, I used to think that all they needed was feed and water. Then I discovered you also had to provide extra minerals and built the diy grit and oyster feeder. Since we have goats I will be adding these diy PVC goat mineral feeders to their barn.

Yes that is right, goats need their minerals too. It is usually recommended that you provide at least 3 different ones for your goats. What you give them may often depend on where you live, meaning that you should try identify which minerals are missing from their regular diet. The feeders below were designed for Nigerian Dwarfs, but you can use wider fittings for bigger breeds.

Once you have gathered all the required materials, you can start setting up your feeders. This is one of those projects were your childhood LEGO skills are very valuable. Use the pictures and instructions at the link below to guide you through the whole process. Do not forget to secure your feeder to the wall, or else your naughty goats will be able to topple it over.
