DIY Plastic Bottle Drip Irrigation

As my the size of my garden grows with each season, I find it is becoming harder to manually water all my plants. This is why I am always on the look out for hands free solutions such as the diy gravity pvc irrigation system and the diy deep pot pvc irrigation. This coming season I will be trying these diy plastic bottle drip irrigation too.

Seems pretty simple to make these, will just need a couple of empty plastic bottles. Thank goodness you can easily find and reuse these for free. That will help you save some money. The spikes in the picture though, you probably have to purchase them online. There’s an alternate free option, which works just as well providing slow drip irrigation for your plants, keep reading for more details.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1.

Remove the caps from the bottles, and rinse them.

Step 2.

Fill the plastic bottles with water.

Step 3.

Screw on the plastic irrigation spikes.

Step 4.

Turn the bottles upside down, and stick them into
the ground with the irrigation spikes going in first.

Step 5.

Re-fill with water when the bottle is empty.

As mentioned above, instead of using spikes you can leave the bottle caps on and use the nails or drill to make holes in the bottle caps. This should slowly release the water into the soil, the same way the irrigation spikes would do. I am going to purchase some spikes and just drill holes in the remaining bottles.
