Arrrgh, this is one chore that I could never get used to. I am talking about doing laundry. In previous blog posts we looked at things such as diy liquid laundry detergent, homemade dryer sheets and diy fabric softener. These are essential for when you decide to take on the pile of dirty clothes. Then there is this diy mobile laundry station, that you can add to your laundry room.
When it comes to laundry room organisation and storage ideas, this could be a life saver. It holds your laundry baskets which help keep your laundry separated as well as an are on top for storing your detergent, dry sheets, stain remover as well as the fabric softener. The station itself, is made out of wood which can be either purchased or reused. I prefer the later choice, it helps reduce the total cost of the project.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 3/4 inch plywood
- 1 x 2 inch pine boards
- 1/4 inch plywood
- shoe molding
- 2″ medium duty swivel casters with brake
- 2″ medium duty rigid casters
- deck screws
- wood screws
- wood glue
- primer
- paint
- shelf liner
- laundry baskets
- jigsaw
- miter saw
- tape measure
- marker
Guess what, all your cuts will depend on the size of your laundry baskets. Measure the baskets first, then move on to measuring your cuts. With all the cuts in hand you can build the box that will hold the baskets. Some rails will be installed to allow the baskets to easily slide in and out. The station is primed and painted before the wheels can be installed to make it ‘mobile’.
