DIY Kitchen Colander Herb Garden

As ‘chefs’ we all have our selection fresh herbs, that the use regularly in the kitchen. Whenever possible, I always recommend that you grow your own herbs right there in your kitchen. You can check out earlier posts on the diy vertical herb garden planter, diy mason jar herb garden and the diy hanging tin can herb garden. Alternatively, you may prefer this diy kitchen colander herb garden, instead.

These diy herb garden projects, are always fun projects for the whole family. I think re-purposing an old colander is the best way to go with this one. Hmmm, how about using a vintage colander? That should give the planter a little more character, don’t you think? As for the herbs, you can plant anything from basil, oregano, parsley, mint, rosemary, sage and even thyme. Each planter should not take more than 10 minutes of your time to set up.

At which time, the colander is placed in the kitchen sink, watered and then left to drain fully before returning it to the window sill. Besides the kitchen, you can also place these outside on the patio or balcony, during the warmer summer months.
