There is absolutely no reason why your goats should not have a ‘fancy’ feeder by now, especially if you have been a regular on this blog. From the diy wood pallet goat hay feeder, to the diy square bale goat hay feeder and the diy plastic drum goat feeder. You have many options to choose from, you could even just make this diy goat feeding stand too.
Some of the other diy goat feeder projects, are not as easy as this one. However, the end goal is the same, right? We just want the goats fed! Feel free to salvage and reuse materials from around the homestead for this one. That is the only way to keep this project affordable. I think personally I would just splurge on a brand new bucket. But then again, that’s just me! Ha, ha, ha!
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- galvanized metal pail bucket---------------------- Advertisement ----------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------- - metal hook
- wooden post
- cinder block
- hand held drill
- post digger (optional)
- quikrete (optional)
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1.
Find a good location in your goat pen and
dig a hole for your post.
Step 2.
Drill a hole in the post and screw
in your metal hook.
Step 3.
Securely plant the post into the ground.
Step 4.
Place the cinder block at the base.
Step 5.
Hook the bucket onto the metal hook.
The goats will use the cinder block as a stepping stone to get access to inside the bucket. Your bucket should be able to tilt backwards when hanging from the hook, otherwise the goats will not be able to enjoy the hay inside. When they are done feeding you can just unhook the bucket and go refill it. Simple but it works like a charm! 🙂
