Who doesn’t love picnics? I don’t know about you, but I certainly so looove them. We have tackled other backyard furniture projects on this blog such as the diy wood pallet bench and the diy outdoor cabana lounge. Therefore taking on this diy convertible picnic table bench, shouldn’t be difficult at all.
What makes this picnic table design, different from all the others? Well the answer is in the word ‘convertible’. Instead of having a fixed table with two benches on either side, you can fold the table and you are left with two separate benches. This would be perfect for those times you when you do not need the table and you just want to sit down and relax in your backyard.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Kreg pocket hole jig
- handheld drill
- miter saw
- sander
- shop vacuum
- table saw
- tape measure
- 2×6 plywood boards
- 2×4 plywood boards
- pocket hole screws
- 3″ utility hinge
- outdoor polyurethane
- sandpaper
- wood stain
- wood glue
Assembling the legs is the first order of business. It involves drilling pocket holes and using the glue and screws to hold everything together. Attaching the stretcher is next, followed by the bench top assembly. The legs will need to be attached to the top before you can assemble the arms. All that will be left to do, is the arm support before you can finish by attaching the table top itself. Your table will be ready for your picnic adventures! 🙂
