What did the chicken say to the other chicken? Here, hold my treat! LOL If that was really the case, we would just make these diy dried tomato chicken treats or diy frozen corn chicken treats and not not have any need for this diy chicken treat holder.
I hope you are actively trying to broaden your homemade chicken treats repertoire. I always try to have something new, tasty and fun to keep my girls happy. This particular holder is a bit fancy, especially if you are using all the required materials. Another option would be of course to substitute as many of them as possible, with hopefully some salvaged stuff from around your homestead.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 5/16″ x 7″ carriage bolt
- 1/2″ hex nuts
- 1/2″ x 2″ fender washer
- 3/8″ X 1 1/2″ fender washer
- 5/16″ fender washer
- 5/16″ hook and eye turnbuckle
- round plastic dish or Frisbee
- round eye trigger snap
- screw eye hook
- step drill bit
- handheld drill
- coated clothesline
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1
Use the drill to make a hole in the
center of your plastic dish.
Step 2.
Drill a couple of drainage holes around
the center hole you made in the step above.
Step 3.
Slide the hexa nut, followed by the 2″
fender washer down the carriage bolt.
Step 4.
Thread the carriage bolt through that center
hole until it sits on the washer.
Step 5.
Slide down the 1 1/2″ washer and then
screw on the hexa nut.
Step 6.
Remove the hook from the turnbuckle, screw on
another bolt about halfway up the carriage bolt
and then screw on the turnbuckle to the bolt.
Step 7.
Attach the trigger snap to the top end of the
turnbuckle.
Step 8.
After you have placed your treat on the dish,
you can then hang the holder in your chicken coop.
When prepping your cabbage for the holder, first cut it in half then use something sharp to make a hole in the center that you will slide down the carriage bolt. Any juices will sip down the drainage holes. Make sure that when hanging the holder in your coop, you place it a height that your chickens can easily get to it without breaking their little necks.
