I love that my girls have a nice place that they call home. What I didn’t enjoy at first was having to clean up their poop everywhere on the floor. That is how the idea of building a diy chicken poop hammock and the diy chicken poop scooper eventually came up. We have also tried this diy chicken coop dropping board as a solution and it too got the job done.
Considering the various chicken coop designs that are available out there, it is always a good idea to have options. What I like about this simple project is that, you can customize it to fit most coop. On top of that you can save money by salvaging wood scraps from your other projects and using that to build this poop catcher. Having said that, you probably only need about half an hour to construct one of these.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- plywood
- wood scraps
- wood nails or screws
- hammer
- miter saw or hand saw
- handheld drill
- tape measure
- old tiles
This is another simple project that you can undertake at your homestead. I would recommend that you measure out the dimensions of your coop, so that you can measure your plywood twice and cut once. When the poop ‘tray’ has been assembled you can lay down tiles on the surface of the dropping board. The addition of the tiles will save you a lot of time and energy when you have to clean up.
