Not every one needs or wants to keep a lot of chickens. Especially when people start raising chickens they only have a few, therefore there is no need for structures such as this diy tent chicken coop or this diy garden shed chicken coop. Instead, you may want to consider building this diy small chicken coop which maybe more suited to your needs.
There is no shortage of diy chicken coop plans on the internet. So much so that when it comes to selecting one out of the thousands available, it becomes a daunting task. The plans below are by no means easy or beginner level. The main reason why I selected them was because I thought the coop was ‘cute’. Having said that, if you feel overwhelmed by the instructions feel free to search on this blog for an easier option.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- plywood & lumber
- cedar fence pickets
- steel roof panel
- wood screws
- wood glue
- staples
- Kreg screws
- 1/2″ hardware cloth
- hinges
- latches
- Simpson strong-tie roof brackets
- staple gun
- Kreg jig
- marker
- tape measure
Okay, when you are ready to begin you can start measuring, marking and then making all your required cuts. Your side walls are first to go up and then the front and back walls. Next is attaching the hardware cloth and then the floor support boards. Build you ladder and the attach it followed by the floorboards as well as the walls.
Naturally the coop needs windows, therefore that is the next order of business. The windows must be covered by hardware cloth. With the walls done, you can move on to making the door frames and the doors. All that is left for you to do is to build and install the roof rafters, with the metal roof sheeting that covers the top. They are a few other finishing touches, before your coop is ready to accommodate your chickens.
