DIY Water Tank Chicken Coop

It just occured to me the other day, that it has been a while since we featured a wood pallet project on this blog. I think the last one we did was this diy wood pallet canning pantry or was it this diy wood pallet block clock, I am not sure anymore. That is how long it has been, I guess. That is why today, I decided to look at this diy water tank chicken coop project.

You already know that I am very vocal when it comes to pushing for the reuse or repurposing of materials that maybe lying around or that others maybe disposing of. This project plays into that as you can repurpose an old leaking water tank, that is beyond repair. The wood pallets which are usually available for free, can then be used for the inside furnishings. With proper planning this project should not be an expensive one at all.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

You don’t want your tank to roll over with your chickens in it, therefore it is vital that you anchor it to the ground as securely as possible. Use what ever is at your disposal to achieve the stable tank, logs on either side work too. Then lay some cinder blocks on the bottom, and sit one or two of the pallets on top of them. That is the coop floor, which is followed by the partition made from more complete pallets.

There should be an opening into the main section of the coop through the partition. The front it covered using planks from dismantled pallets, which have to be measured, cut and shaped for a snug fit, before being screwed into place. On one side leave space for the nesting box and ot the other the door for the coop. A small ladder will be needed for the chickens to be able to access their new coop.
