#1: Pet Bowls

Instead of setting up a lot of diy chicken waterers, you can use these instead. These can be placed in the coop or outside for your free range chickens. This is the best way to ensure that there is always drinking water available for your girls.

#2: Glass Marbles

Still dealing with water, but this time we are targeting the baby chicks. Placing glass marbles in the waterer, makes it shallow enough for them to stand in the water without drowning. Fill your baby chick water with marbles or clean clean river rocks.

#3: Epsom Salts

Most gardeners know that you can use these in your garden. However, I have also discovered that they can be used for soaking bumblefoot or egg bound hens too. As already stated above, any leftovers can be used in your garden.

#4: Pedialyte Electrolyte

It is never fun when you chickens get sick, especially when you do not know what is wrong with them. This ‘magic’ solution contains electrolytes as well as sugar. Add some of it into the chickens drinking water and you should see some improvement within a few hours.

#5: Rubber Shelf Liner

If you are using an incubator to hatch your eggs, then it is recommended that you use this liner. Just make sure that you cut it, so that it fits perfectly in the bottom. With this in place you can prevent your baby chicks from sliding all over the place and ending up with what they call spraddle leg.
