DIY Yellow Cup Sticky Traps

There are many pests and diseases that may attack your garden plants. When it comes to aphids that want to attack your tomato plants, you can try these diy yellow cup sticky traps.

These homemade aphid traps are super easy to build, with 3 out of 4 of the required materials available from most dollar stores. For the sticky substance, it is recommended that you use the tried and tested Tree Tanglefoot. This is because it does not wash off easily, and will therefore last longer than most other sticky substances.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

For each tomato plant in your garden, you are going to need at least two of these traps. Measure and mark your broom sticks into 16″ tall sections. Then use your hacksaw or miter saw to cut the sections out. These will be the inserted into the ground about a foot from your plants to hold the sticky cups.

The cups need to be a bright color, in order to attract the aphids. Yellow is the perfect color for the job. They are coated in tree tanglefoot and this makes them sticky. The thumbtacks are used to hold the cups in place over the broomsticks. Replace the cups once they are coated with trapped aphids. This is yet another simple solution that gets the job done.
