Have you noticed how bored your chickens can get just free ranging around the homestead? Hence over the years we have started introducing a few toys like the diy chicken coop swing and the the diy hanging cabbage for chickens. What do you think of this diy stick chicken coop jungle gym, huh?
When it comes to toys for our chickens, this one is probably the most complex we have gone. We usually keep it simple. It is still very cheap to build as it is made up of sticks and branches you can collect from the woods. The hard part is building a strong stable structure with tight joints. Thank God, the girls don’t weigh too much otherwise they could easily destroy their new toy.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- tree branches & twigs
- wire
- spade
- tape measure
- wire cutter
- metal or plastic lids (optional)
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1.
Dig four holes about 2 feet apart
for your main support posts.
Step 2.
In each of the holes, bury
a thick branch 2 to 3 feet long.
Step 3.
Stabilize your structure with
four sticks about 6 inches off
the ground the whole way around.
Use the wire to tie them in place.
Step 4.
Repeat the step above, but this
time attach your sticks about 2
inches from the top of each post.
Step 5.
On each side, add additional
twigs and branches for support
and easy access.
The easiest way is to use the photograph above to guide you on the placement of the branches and twigs. Optionally, you can place a lid on the top and fill it up with some greens or feed for your girls. You will be surprised by how much they love their new toy! 🙂
